BIBS recommends changing the pacifier every 6 weeks.

It does not include a protective hood. The flat teardrop-shaped teat promotes a sucking technique and tongue position in which the flat tongue presses the pacifier flat against the palate. This means the baby doesn't need to suck as hard to make the pacifier flatten inside the mouth.

The nipple has a valve that lets air out when the baby squeezes it. This ventilation system forces the air inside the nipple out through the valve, flattening the nipple so it fits naturally in the baby's mouth. The valve is the reason water may remain inside the nipple after cleaning and sterilizing it. In that case, simply squeeze the nipple to remove excess water.
